Texas Forever

This past May, Aaron and I went on the best vacation ever! Not only was it my birthday and I finally got to visit Texas, which I've wanted to do for over 10 years, but we also got engaged!

About 10 years ago, I was watching TV and saw some show that featured the San Antonio Riverwalk. I was in awe and wanted to go! I finally got my chance and it was even better in person!

We explored the Riverwalk and had a delicious Mexican dinner on the water. We then decided to go check out The Alamo. It was late at night so it was already closed. We walked around a bit and took some photos...

Then Aaron started acting strange.

We walked over to this huge statue and Aaron said he had to sit down because he was so full from dinner. Never mind the fact he was completely fine right before this. Of course, I have no clue what is going on and just asking if he was okay. After a few tries of getting him to walk with me back to the Riverwalk, I got a little annoyed with him lol

I asked him again to start walking and he said he needed to rest. I finally got so annoyed that I started walking away... next thing I hear is "Babe turn around", so I did.

I turn around and he was down on one knee *insert cheesy smile here*

I totally thought he was joking at first because he has faked proposed to me TWICE! #rude

When I saw the ring I knew it was real! I don't remember what he said because I blacked out from shock but I do remember saying "Of course!". Then we hear all the cars stopped at the stop light honking their horns and cheering us on. I was so embarrassed because I hate attention haha

It took me a minute to realize what just happened and once I did I just started crying. Happy tears of course! We spent the rest of the night celebrating by telling family and friends... and a few drinks :)

Aaron said he did it there so I'll always "Remember The Alamo"... if you're a history buff you'll get it *wink wink*

It was the perfect start to the perfect trip.

The next day was my birthday! And to make it even better we were headed to Waco to go visit Magnolia Market.

It. Was. MAGICAL!

It was so much bigger than what you see on TV and so beautiful. We first hit one of the food trucks and got some food. We had a hard time picking a place to eat because there were so many food trucks, from food to drinks to dessert, they had it covered. This is the moment we decided to share our engagement on social media and I kinda regret doing it that way haha

Instead of focusing all of my time on the Land of Fixer Upper, I was too busy reading all my comments on facebook and instagram!

After posting this picture, I realized everyone was going to think we got engaged at the silos. And they did lol Oops!

Oh well... guess I'll just have to go back and do it again...

Oh yeah and I almost cried when I realized most of the pictures I took of Magnolia Market were gone!! I took most of my pictures using instagram stories and Snapchat and didn't have my save feature on. So after 24 hours they were gone. This girl didn't check until 25 hours later. Grrr...

Luckily I had a few that were saved!

The rest of the trip was spent in Austin.

If you've never been to Austin before, I highly recommend it. The nightlife there is so fun and crazy and loud! I didn't realize it was a college town at first but it sure brought me back to my college days of partying and bar hopping.

Our last full day in Austin consisted of being tourists and checking out the State Capital which was beautiful! The architecture and size were astounding.

We were on a mission to find real authentic Texas BBQ and thanks to a tip from Aaron's friend who is from Texas, we found it! It was a spot called Cooper's BBQ. Texas BBQ puts any BBQ I have ever eaten in California and Washington to shame! It was the best thing I've ever eaten. My mouth is drooling just thinking about it.

You order the meat by the pound and there were so many different kinds to choose from. We chose brisket and ribs. We got so much we couldn't finish. We literally walked back to the hotel and took a 2 hour nap. Major food coma.

We spent the rest of the night at this cute little rooftop bar called The Market. We got there when it was empty and left when the place was packed! It had a rustic vibe to it that made me not want to leave.

If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't hesitate to say yes. In fact, Aaron and I are already planning our next trip to Texas. Might not be until after the wedding but I'm thinking honeymoon? LoL #maybenot

We fit so much into four days and yet there is so much we didn't do. But I now truly understand why people say Texas Forever. It will forever be a special place where the best memories were made.
