Wedding Planning 101

Happy Sunday friends! I hope you're having a great weekend! Today we are heading to a friends house for a BBQ. We've been breaking records here in Washington for most consecutive days with no rain. The one day we decide to have a BBQ it's supposed to rain! Go figure.

Not gonna lie though, I actually miss the rain. I'm sure I'm getting crazy looks from people after reading that. Especially from a Cali transplant. I've always loved rain and fall is my favorite season because that's when it starts getting cooler and the weather starts getting rainy. It's the best!

Speaking of fall... the one year countdown to our wedding is almost here! Ahhhhh! Let the stress fun begin!

Aaron and I have been engaged for exactly 3 months and 2 days (but who's counting) and I've learned so much about wedding planning. I made a list of everything we need to do before the big day and overwhelming is an understatement! But we've got a few of the bigger things taken care of already like the ceremony/reception venue, food and drinks. We have a consultation scheduled with the photographer I want next week and I've already been stalking Pinterest for decor ideas, bridesmaids dress and hair styles.

That's just the tip of the iceburg.

I have discovered some fun things along the way to help with everything. Including this awesome wedding planner by The Knot!

The Knot is an amazing website for couples planning their wedding. It has EVERYTHING you need to research venues, caterers, DJ's, hair salons, bakery's... you name it. It's basically every brides bible.

And coming soon - our very own wedding website by The Knot!

You can even use their message boards to chat with other brides to be or people who already got married but give advice for what to do and what not to do.

Another fun website that helps with EVERYTHING is Wedding Wire. It works the same way as The Knot and it's more people you can chat with ;o)

The best part is that both of the websites have user friendly apps that I'm using constantly! My favorite part is the checklists they give you for 9-11 months out, 6-8 months out, 5-7 months out... you get the idea. It's a great timeline to keep you on track for what needs to be done and when.

I'm definitely the type that wants it all done NOW! At one point I was losing so much sleep at night because I couldn't stop thinking about wedding stuff. I had to convince myself that it can't all be done at once and had to give myself a break from looking at wedding stuff online. It helped a lot! I already feel more at ease and ready to tackle it all one by one. No bridezilla's here! :)

Someone once told me to enjoy this time. I made a comment on how stressful it was getting just thinking about everything that has to be done, and I was quickly reminded on how this is a special time I should cherish. It should be fun and it will only happen once (yes once), so take it all in and just enjoy it. Thank you to that person for saying that! I really needed it :)

If any of my readers live in the Everett area and have any recommendations for DJ's, cake bakeries or anything else you think we should have, please let me know in the comments section or email me (click on contact me above). I'd love to hear your suggestions!

Stay tuned for more wedding updates as they come! XoXo
